Our Team

Spaces begin with a feeling, a function and a form. The proper application of lighting defines your space and transforms it into a solution that satisfies those three aspects. In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary.

Vivid Concepts began in 2006. Our success is the direct result of our team coming together to build a service-driven business through attention to detail, creative exploration and knowledge of the product and industry. Whatever your project’s scope, we work closely with you from the planning stage to achieve an effective lighting and design solution. On-site visits are an important part of our service where we can clearly manage concepts and specifications required. If you are renovating, our designers will help redefine a space, and are happy to assist in establishing budgets. Our showrooms boast a curated selection of lighting and design pieces that will certainly help inspire direction for your project. Book a consultation with one of our creatives.

What is your favourite lighting brand?
This is really a tough question. We try to explore collections which offer the most value and quality from all over the world. I love Tech Lighting for its versatility, and the Leucos FDV collection for its classic contemporary style and superior quality.

Whats currently playing on your iPod?
This summer I’m enjoying the new Saving Abel album Miss America as well as Paramore’s Brand New Eyes, 30 Seconds to Mars’ A Beautiful Lie, and on a softer beat I’m chilin to Alicia Keys’ The Element of Freedom and John Mayer’s Half of my Heart.

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Mostly the basics: milk, eggs and cheese.

What is the last book you read?
I’m really interested in Russian history right now; recently I’ve read a biography on Joseph Stalin and Pyotr Arsenievich Smirnov the founder of Smirnoff Vodka.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, with whom would it be?
Coco Chanel – I’m in love with her grace and femininity, but I mostly appreciate her fearless determination to achieve success in such a rigid class.

What’s the title of your autobiography?
Less is More – My husband and I enjoy quite a simple life. Basically, we try to keep it together just enjoying one another’s company. He makes me laugh a lot!

If you had only six months left to live, what would you do with the time?
Head to the lake, lie in the sun and cuddle my dogs.

What is your favorite drink before 10am? And after 11am?
Oh definitely coffee in the morning! And a good vodka-soda in the evening.

What is your favourite lighting brand?
I don’t have one favorite brand in particular, I tend to gravitate towards the brands that I know will support us. If I had to pick a few of my favourites I would say anything imported by Interlight such as Linea, Morosini, or Vistosi.

Whats currently playing on your iPod?
I’m currently loving Silversun Pickups, Matthew Good, Three Days Grace and Paramour.

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
At home, I have a vast collection of hot sauces, salad dressings, milk, cheese and 2 massive cartons of eggs, courtesy of my fiancé.

What is the last book you read?
I’m reading Phillipa Gregory’s Meridian. I really enjoy historical fiction, mostly set in England.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, with whom would it be?
Hmmm…that’s a tough one. I really don’t think I can choose one person. I believe we make our own future, everyone has their own struggles, I am not sure that I would want to experience someone else’s. I love my life!

What’s the title of your autobiography?
Seriously – I say that a lot. Plus, I think my autobiography would be entirely satirical.

If you had only six months left to live, what would you do with the time?
Spend a lot of quality time with family and friends, after a romantic vacation to Europe.

What is your favorite drink before 10am? And after 11am?
Before 10am, coffee. After 11am it’s usually water.

What is your favourite lighting brand?
Without a doubt, the Swarovski line is my favorite. From their ease of installation, to their quality, to their shear elegance and beauty, it is all first class. It feels like I am hanging huge diamonds from the ceiling.

Whats currently playing on your iPod?
I only listen to my iPod at the gym, so I have quite the rock collection on there. AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, Buckcherry, and The Tragically Hip. Don’t tell anyone, but there may be some Justin and Britney on there, too.

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
I love yogurt in the morning and cottage cheese in the evenings. They are a staple, along with some Five Alive peach juice. However, on a perfect day there are leftovers in the fridge, I am big into cold leftovers.

What is the last book you read?
If you consider the sports page of the newspaper a great non-fiction read, then that would be my answer. Other than that, I have a bad habit of starting books, getting bored and stopping.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, with whom would it be?
I would have to say Wayne Gretzky, back in the early- to mid-80′s. To be that good at hockey, in a fairly small town with amazing fan support, at his age, sourrounded by a group of highly skilled players…that would be incredible.

What’s the title of your autobiography?
Keep it Light – For anyone who knows me, I tend to put a scarcastic, humorous spin on everything. Nothing makes me feel better than to see people smile and laugh. There is no better energy booster than knowing you made someone’s day with a good laugh.

If you had only six months left to live, what would you do with the time?
I would take some time to go anywhere where there is snow to ride my snowmobile, take a trip to Vegas with friends, the rest of the time I would spend quietly at the lake—spending as much time as possible with my beautiful wife and puppies.

What is your favourite drink before 10am? And after 11am?
In the morning, I love a Guru Organic Energy Drink. And in the eve, I’m into either an ice-cold Pepsi or Smirnoff Ice cooler.

What is your favourite lighting brand?
I love all the brands. That’s why we choose to carry them. Rather than have a favourite brand, I have found that I love the creativity, design and functionality of certain fixtures. My favourites are the Aspid collection by Leucos, the Musa collection by Vintage & Murano Luce and the Jewels by Harco Loor.

Whats currently playing on your iPod?
The truth is…I am stuck in the 90′s. I have a broad selection of Tragically Hip, Rolling Stones, Metallica and even the classic Beastie Boys! I do enjoy mixing in a few of the latest top 40 to change it up a bit.

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Oh gosh…are you sure you want to know? There are apples, tangerines, avocado, grapefruit, grapes, limes, zucchini, lettuce, tomato, spinach, mushrooms, ham, turkey, lots of cheese, juice, tea, water, an old beer and an old bottle of wine back there somewhere, all the condiments including liquid smoke. Some homeopathic medicines, green herb butter, cream cheese, eggs, milk, pecans, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, oat bran, brown rice, yeast, butter, more cheese, yogurt, pickles, and water. I think that’s it. I like to cook so I keep lots of ingredients on hand. My fridge is always full but there’s never enough food! My main focus is wine, cheese and olives.

What is the last book you read?
I wish I could say it was some work of literary genius, but I’ll be honest: Danielle Steel Sisters. Girly book, teary, great ending.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, with whom would it be?
I may have wanted to be a child again and perhaps that would help me to better understand my own children. But, I would have to say that I would definitely trade places with my grandmother. Her unconditional love and kindness is beautifully calming and we could all use that in our lives. I’m very fortunate to have her in my life.

What’s the title of your autobiography?
Slow down & smell the flowers! A life worth living.

If you had only six months left to live, what would you do with the time?
Travel the world with my family, and then settle to rest in Italy.

What is your favorite drink before 10am? And after 11am?
Coffee in the morning—perhaps a latte. Red wine in the evening—a great Italian cab.
